Let’s try this one more time

Welcome (back) to my world.

It is Oct. 3, 2020, and the launch of a redesigned WGRamirez.com.

This is a project that was initiated while we were all in quarantine, though the thought process has been in the works much longer.

My thoughts are a bit inhibited as a freelancer since most assignments are just that - assignments. I'm given an event or topic to write about, and generally don't have an avenue to flesh out my thoughts and/or opinions.

I mean, there are only so many characters on Twitter, right? And after 33 years of serving in some capacity in the media industry, I've got a lot to share.

Some have told me my life story would make an interesting book. Others have told me to keep my mouth shut.

The former is intriguing, though a longshot. The latter is impossible, if you know me.

So why not relaunch my site, with a redesign thanks to the talented Sydney Smith, with an assist to Las Vegas sports marketing specialist Alexis Robinson, and the input of several close friends I've relied upon for advice on content.

These first articles should be an eye-opener for some, personal pieces loaded with emotions I've held in most of 2020, while seeing society crumble to the ground. In the future, I hope to touch on a number of topics, both inside and out of sports, telling some of Las Vegas' best stories you might not otherwise know about while also bringing you along on my own personal journey, whether it's from an event or just sharing a thought.

I'm really hoping to venture into the world of Mental Health and Suicide Awareness, with occasional pieces that may touch just one person. I'm not worried about clicks or viewership - don't get me wrong, I'd love to have hundreds and thousands, and millions visit my site - as much as I am worried about the state of many minds, particularly young ones.

By possible touching on my own struggles with what I've come to now label cerebral health (thanks to former NFL veteran Brian Dawkins, who used the phrase during an Instagram live chat recently), and suicidal thoughts that infiltrate my brain every now and then - more often then I'd like - I'm hoping it can help others in how to control the thoughts they encounter. If I can help one person every time I share my own experiences, that's a good thing.

I'll leave it there for now, and hope you'll visit every few weeks, when I load my new content.

As always, have a Blessed day!

Willie G.
